Quantitative assessment of plant stress is an important task that requires a complex approach. An effective stress diagnostics system should fullfill the following basic requirements:

• Combined application of various non-invasive monitoring techniques, which optimally do not interfere with the growth and stress responses of plants
• Possibility to apply for a reasonably large number of plants in a precisely controlled environment
• High level of automatization regarding plant treatment, data collection and data evaluation
